Hall of Fame Coach Morgan Wootten Shares Keys to Happiness at Johnny Holliday Scholarship Classic
On June 6, 2016, sports elite and local businesses participated in the Johnny Holliday Scholarship Classic benefiting the Youth Leadership Foundation (YLF). The charity golf tournament raised nearly $200,000 for students of YLF to enroll in character-building & academic programs this summer and to receive tuition assistance to local elementary and high schools.
2 YLF students, Berniece and Bianca Okhaifor, attended. These twin sisters have been involved with YLF since the 3rd grade. They have blossomed from quiet & reserved children into young women marked by humility, integrity and example. This April, they were selected by KPMG for their Future Leaders Scholarship. Yesterday, they graduated from Visitation. This fall, they will attend UNC-Greensboro.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of the Community Champion Award to Morgan Wootten. The award recognizes the commitment of an individual to the betterment of his / her community. During his Q&A with Johnny Holliday, Morgan communicated how special it was that everybody came together celebrating friendships and helping a group of kids who really deserve it. He emphasized, “There are givers and takers in life, and the people that know happiness are the givers.”
